JAY B lets TR.EE take root in Seoul before Bangkok follows

JAY B returned as a solo artist on June 10, 2026, at 6 PM with his third mini-album 'TR.EE'. This marks his first mini-album in 3 years and 8 months. He described this album as "doing one's best rather than being the best."

This expression goes beyond just his comeback remarks. It aligns with his attitude of stepping away from the image built as the leader and vocalist of Got7 to more clearly showcase his own voice and R&B preferences.

528Hz First Mini-album, a Name Starting from a Tree

'TR.EE' is the first mini-album presented by JAY B under his new agency, 528Hz. The album title originates from the word 'tree.' JAY B mentioned during a listening session that he was drawn to the idea that a tree must experience swaying to take deep roots, and he captured that emotion in the album.

He also stated that he hoped for "music that people want to keep adding to their playlists and listening to." In group activities, the members' colors and stage energy move together, but in a solo album, one person's taste, breath, and the temperature of their voice lead the work. This album is tuned toward the sensation of repeated listening rather than a single powerful impact.

'Layback' Teaser and Six-Song Tracklist

In the official 'Layback' teaser, JAY B moves between a wide, cold interior, a dark field, and low lighting. The screen does not rush excessively, and his gestures are not overly exaggerated. Instead, by showing black outfits and empty spaces for a long time, he creates a relaxed atmosphere, much like the song title.

One cannot judge the entire song from a short video alone. However, in the released teaser, the title track leans more toward texture and negative space rather than intense performance.

The tracklist is composed of six songs, including 'Hold onto My Back', the title track 'Layback', 'Overflow', 'One Call Away', and 'Time'. JAY B explained that he paid attention to both the track order and the feeling of the sound. It is a composition intended to be listened to from beginning to end, rather than just a single-song comeback.

Following the Seongsu-dong Listening Session, Seoul Concerts on the 20th and 21st

On the day of the album release, JAY B held a listening session at Seongsu-yul Music in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. This listening session was known to be his first solo listening session since his debut. It was a schedule that went beyond just releasing the music by arranging a separate space to listen to it first.

Performances will follow soon. JAY B will hold his solo concert 'tape:roots Seoul' at YES24 LIVE HALL in Seoul on June 20 and 21, and will take the stage in Bangkok in July. The release, listening session, and concerts are all arranged within a single month.

JAY B confessed at the listening session that he thought a lot about how to show an expression different from Got7's music. The more an artist has high group recognition, the more their solo work must simultaneously explain a different kind of music from their familiar name. 'TR.EE' puts the vocals forward without pushing with excessive technique, laying down emotions through the loose rhythm and sense of space of R&B.

The Seoul performance begins on June 20. The six songs released immediately after the release will first meet fans live on this stage, followed by the July Bangkok schedule.
