JAY B starts his 528Hz era with slow-burn R&B on 'TR.EE'

JAY B is returning with his third mini album 'TR.EE'. The album is scheduled to be released on June 10, 2026, at 6 PM, and the title track is 'Layback'.

This album is the first result released by JAY B under his new agency, 528Hz. The core focus is how he will showcase the distinction between the image he built as the leader of Got7 and his own color as a solo singer-songwriter.

Differences from Got7 revealed at listening session

At the listening session, JAY B said, “I thought a lot about how to express the fact that this is different from Got7's music.” During Got7 activities, he was the leader and vocalist who held the center of the team, but for his solo album, he must take responsibility for the temperature and flow of the songs, as well as the face shown on stage, under his own name.

The difference he mentioned is difficult to interpret as an intention to erase his team activities. It is closer to a choice to place more weight on R&B with lower tones and slower breathing, while using the sense he built with the team as a foundation.

6 tracks including 'Layback'

'TR.EE' contains six songs: 'Hold onto My Back', the title track 'Layback', 'Overflow', 'One Call Away', 'Time', and 'We'. In the released Highlight medley, rather than fast stimulation, a relaxed rhythm, softly layered synths, and an R&B color that emphasizes the texture of the voice were revealed first.

The official teaser also imprinted the album's atmosphere by leaving long shots of lighting, silence, side profiles, and close-ups rather than a large narrative. JAY B stated that he hopes for “music that you want to put in your playlist and keep listening to.”

It has been confirmed that JAY B participated in the lyrics and composition of all tracks under the producer name Def. Since his first full-length album 'Archive 1: [Road Runner]' in 2024, he has once again taken charge of the musical direction with his own hands.

While mentioning the “pressure of always having to show and prove,” he explained that he has come to think more about what he wants to express further in this new environment. As it is the first album after changing agencies, the musical perfection and his subsequent work methods are also drawing attention.

The 'Layback' teaser consisted of a dark background, a leather jacket, a side profile, and short close-ups. Rather than releasing excessive information in advance, it is a method of showing JAY B's atmosphere and the temperature of R&B first.

Album performance cannot be determined yet. The music release will be released today at 6 PM, and chart and listener reactions will be confirmed later. JAY B is scheduled to perform the songs from the new album at the YES24 LIVE HALL concert in Seoul on June 20 and 21.
