On Nopakku Tak Jae-hun, Chae Yeon revisits the "Shake" music video review as "2005 Chae Yeon" returns after an eight-month break.

Chae Yeon has spoken again about the broadcast review surrounding the music video for "Shake." On the YouTube variety program "Nopakku Tak Jae-hun," released on June 3, 2026, the singer looked back on the broadcast-company standards reviews and stage-outfit criticism she faced during her activities in the 2000s.

Chaeyeon Explains Channel Return in '2026 Chaeyeon' Video

The remarks also connect to the return of her personal channel, "2005 Chae Yeon." In the past, television broadcasts and variety shows consumed Chae Yeon's image from the outside. Now, Chae Yeon herself is explaining that era directly through the content she appears in and through her own channel.

During "Nopakku Tak Jae-hun," Chae Yeon was asked about the background behind the decision by the three major terrestrial broadcasters to rule the "Shake" music video unsuitable for broadcast. Recalling the scene at the time, she said she remembered it.

Chae Yeon also mentioned moments from the same period when she felt the standards applied to her were stricter than those applied to other female solo singers. In the mid-to-late 2000s, the sexy concepts of female solo dance singers were a source of public attention, but they also became targets of broadcast review and variety-show caricature.

On stage, she had to draw attention. On television, some forms of expression were restricted. In variety shows, a bold image could become material for laughter, while in broadcast review, that same image could become a reason for sanctions. The core of her latest remarks is that, nearly 20 years later, the person directly involved is now explaining that experience in her own words.

After debuting in 2003, Chae Yeon broadened her public recognition with "Two of Us" and "It's My Time." At the 2005 Seoul Broadcasting System Gayo Daejeon, she received the award in the dance category.

That same year, the opening of "Two of Us" and Chae Yeon's stage image were repeatedly parodied on variety programs, imprinting her on an even wider public. It was a case in which musical achievement and transformation into a variety-show meme happened at the same time.

In the 2020s, Y2K content is difficult to sustain for long if it simply copies old clothing and speech patterns. For Chae Yeon, 2005 is not just a retro decoration. It is being reused as a name that explains her current content.

The "2026 Chae Yeon" video on her personal channel "2005 Chae Yeon" was uploaded on May 20, 2026. As of the time checked, it had recorded 42,297 views. In the video, Chae Yeon sits at a desk and calmly explains why she returned and why the channel had been inactive.

Chae Yeon said she was restarting the channel with a new production team after an eight-month break. She also added that she wanted to continue making content that looks back on the past. The name "2005 Chae Yeon" calls back to Chae Yeon of the past, but the way the channel operates is closer to the present-day Chae Yeon directly editing and explaining that period.

The Chae Yeon episode of "Nopakku Tak Jae-hun" had recorded 495,007 views and 7,523 likes as of the time checked. Those figures are not comparable to the numbers for a major idol comeback video, but they do show that retrospective content from a 2000s solo singer is still being discovered on current platforms.

Still, views alone are not enough to determine whether the rebranding has succeeded. The more specifically Chae Yeon explains broadcast review, stage outfits, variety-show parodies, and the female solo market of that time in her own language, the more likely the return of "2005 Chae Yeon" is to move beyond a one-off act of nostalgia.
