Jang Sung-kyu turns a harsh early-morning DM into a lesson on boundaries
Jang Sung-kyu shared an insulting social media DM from June 14, accepted the sender’s apology, and underlined basic SNS etiquette.
Broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu revealed a harsh DM received during the early morning hours and accepted an apology from the sender. Rather than pressing the individual further, he chose to close the conversation, while noting that even for a broadcaster who communicates with fans via public accounts, boundaries in private messages are necessary.

Revealed DM screenshot on social media on the 14th
The incident came to light on the 14th when Jang Sung-kyu posted a screenshot of the DM along with a short text on his social media account. The sender, identifying themselves as a local resident, sent insulting words to Jang Sung-kyu, who reacted with bewilderment at the sudden message.
Afterward, the sender apologized, stating they had crossed the line due to excessive drinking. Jang Sung-kyu replied, "Thank you for apologizing. I will root for you too." He also wrote that while he intended to ignore it, he couldn't overlook it because the person claimed to be a younger neighbor, and concluded by saying to greet him if they meet on the street.
Drawing the line even against requests for 2 million won and 1000 won
Since becoming a freelancer, Jang Sung-kyu has become close to the public through his friendly tone and quick reactions across variety shows, YouTube, and radio-style content. While that friendliness has been an advantage in various programs, a public account's DM should not serve as a channel where anything can be sent.
Recently, Jang Sung-kyu also revealed that he frequently receives messages asking to borrow money. He shared a DM requesting 2 million won, expressing regret that he could not help, and previously, in response to a request to send 1000 won, he verified the actual transfer while drawing a line by stating it was the "first and last time."
SNS Etiquette left after accepting the apology
A celebrity's SNS serves as both a promotional window and a way to meet fans. However, as communication driven by friendliness continues, rude demands and attacks also flood in under the guise of private messages.
Jang Sung-kyu's recent response drew attention because he accepted the sender's apology while publicly documenting the problematic incident. Rather than cornering an individual further, he essentially reaffirmed the minimum level of etiquette that users of public accounts should observe. While his image as a kind broadcaster can be a source of strength, it does not mean that his kindness must endure rudeness.
